Life of Adbul Sattar Edhi 19 Facts That Will Make You Love Him More Than You Already Do

“My religion is humanitarianis. which is the basis of every religion in the world”, Edhi.

The name Edhi doesn’t need any introduction. The world-renowned philanthropist is our hero. We love and all honor him from the deepest parts of our hearts. However, these facts about the great man will cause you to love him more than you already do.

1. when he was 11 Edhi mother became paralyzed and mentally instable. Sir edhi devoted his life completely for taking care of his ailing mother.

2. When Edhi was 19,His mother left him – he rose to the occasion and started charitable work.

3. After migrating to Pakistan, he established a small dispensary with the help of his community members.

4. About sixty years ago, Edhi stood on a road in Karachi and begged for money for an ambulance, raising enough to purchase a battered old van.

5. He would hurtle round the province of Sindh in his battered ambulance, collecting dead bodies and burying them himself.

6. He recovered dead bodies from rivers, inside wells, from road sides, accident sites and hospitals.

8. To reduce infanticide, Edhi placed a little cradle outside every heart. He has so far saved over 35 35,000 babies as well as in many cases identified families who cherished them.

9. Edhi is very impartial and would speak up against politicians as well.

10. Edhi has led relief missions in Pakistan and internationally across the Muslim world.

11. To this date, Edhi has rehabilitated over 50,000 orphans and trained over 40,000 nurses.

12. He runs over 330 welfare centers in Pakistan which serve anyone who is needy.

13. The Edhi Foundation has the world’s largest fleet of over 1,800 ambulances, 28 rescue boats and 2 airplanes.

14. Edhi also runs 24 hour medical dispensaries, a missing person’s hot line and own the largest morgue in Pakistan.

15. To this day, he owns two pairs of clothes, has never taken a salary from his organization and lives in a small two bedroom apartment over his clinic in Karachi.

16. Till now, he has never taken any form of assistance from the government.

17. His wife Bilquis is an equally effective social activist and manages nursing homes, child homes, maternity homes and girls’ hostels.

18. The children in his hostels call him ‘Nana’ out of reverence and love.

 

19. Edhi was awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in 1989, the prestigious Magasay award by Philippines, Balzan Peace Award in 2000 by the Italian Government and a Peace Prize from U.S.S.R.

He is currently unwell and is hospitalized. Let’s all pray for his health. May Allah grant him many more happy years ahead. Amen.
